FEEDLOT performances of Senepol cattle is comparable to other Bos taurus breeds. Large numbers of F1 Senepol cross cattle have been finished in west Texas feedlots in the US with excellent results. These cattle recorded an average daily growth of better than 1.6kg and a feed conversion rate of 3kg or better. They excelled during the hot summer months and performed significantly better than Brahman cross cattle through the winter months. About 65pc of the Senepol crosses graded choice by 15 months of age, with an average yield grade of 2.45 and average fat thickness of 5mm. In other studies, Senepol cross cattle have shown to produce tender, flavorsome beef. Incidence of pinkeye and cancer eye in Senepol cattle is extremely rare.
